Kenya or Tanzania?

Kenya suits travelers who want small conservancy camps, shorter internal flights and outstanding big-cat viewing. Tanzania suits travelers who want vast landscapes, the Ngorongoro Crater, February calving season and a Zanzibar finish. Many clients combine both over twelve to fourteen nights.

The Great Migration Through the Year

• January to March, calving season in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu.
• April to May, green season with lower rates and fewer vehicles.
• June to July, herds mass along the Grumeti River.
• July to October, river crossing season in the northern Serengeti and Masai Mara.
• November to December, short rains move the herds south again.

When is the best time for an East Africa safari?

June through October is the classic dry season and the window for Mara and Serengeti river crossings. January through March is calving season in the southern Serengeti.

How much does an East Africa safari cost?

Roughly $1,200 to $2,500 per person per night, largely all-inclusive. A first safari of eight to ten nights most often lands between $20,000 and $45,000 for two travelers before international air.

Can we add gorilla trekking?

Yes. Rwanda is the easiest add-on: fly to Kigali, drive two to three hours to Volcanoes National Park, and trek on two consecutive days. Permits are limited, so we secure them first.
